Structure of the Present Perfect Tense

The present perfect tense is formed using the auxiliary verb “have” (or “has” for third-person singular) followed by the past participle of the main verb. Here’s the basic structure:

1. **Affirmative Sentence:**
– Subject + have/has + past participle
– Example: “I have finished my homework.”

2. **Negative Sentence:**
– Subject + have/has + not + past participle
– Example: “She has not seen that movie.”

3. **Interrogative Sentence:**
– Have/has + subject + past participle?
– Example: “Have they visited Paris?”

Examples:

– **Affirmative:** “He has written a letter.”
– **Negative:** “We have not eaten breakfast.”
– **Interrogative:** “Has she arrived yet?“

Understanding this structure will help you use the present perfect tense correctly to express actions and experiences with relevance to the present.
